Trencher is a construction equipment used to dig trenches, especially for installing pipes or electric cables, to install drainage, or to prepare for trench warfare.
Several types of trenchers
Excavators are available in a variety of sizes and can use different digging tools, depending on the width and depth of the trench required and the hardness of the surface to be cut.
Wheel trencher
A digging wheel or rockwheel consists of a toothed metal wheel. Cheaper to operate and maintain than chain type diggers. It can work in hard or soft soils, whether homogeneous (solid rock, mud, sand) or heterogeneous (broken or broken rock, aluvia, morain). This is especially true because the mower wheel works by clearing the ground like a bucket wheel does, not like rasping (chain diggers). As a result, the sensitivity to the presence of blocks in the ground will be reduced. They are also used to cut sidewalks for road maintenance and to gain access to utilities under the highway.
Chain trencher
Chain cutter with a digging chain or belt that is moved around a round metal frame, or boom. It resembled a giant chainsaw. This type of trencher can cut earth that is too hard to cut with a bucket-type excavator, and can also cut deep narrow trenches. The boom angle can be adjusted to control the depth of the cut. For trenching, the boom is held at a fixed angle while the machine is creeping slowly.
Chain troughs are used for digging wider trenches (telecommunications, electricity, drainage, water, gas, sanitation, etc.) especially in rural areas. The excavated material can be removed by a reversible conveyor belt on both the right and the left side.
Micro trencher
A micro-digger is a “little stone mill” specially designed for work in urban areas. It is equipped with a cutting wheel that cuts the microtrench to smaller dimensions than can be achieved with conventional trenching equipment.
Portable trencher
Gardeners and lawn care professionals can use portable diggers to install landscape edges and irrigation paths. This machine is light (about 200 pounds) and easy to maneuver compared to other types of diggers. The cutting tool can be a chain or blade similar to a rotating lawn mower that is oriented so that it rotates in a vertical plane.
