Crawler Crane Daily Checklist Inspection Form

Crawler Crane is one type of crane, where this tool is a lifter commonly used in construction projects. The way the crane works is by lifting the material to be moved, moving it horizontally, then lowering the material where it is desired.

In general, crawler cranes or tracked cranes, this type of crane uses chain wheels on the undercarriage. This type of crane uses a hydro static transmission power train, which is a system that transmits power from the engine to the final drive where the power from the hydraulic motor is channeled to the planetary gear system so that the crane can move forward or backward.

The thing that really distinguishes this crane from other types of mobile cranes is the wheels which are of the crawler type. It should be noted that there are generally two types of mobile cranes, namely mobile cranes with tires, and mobile cranes with crawler wheels or chain wheels. Other parts can also characterize this type of crane.

The majority of these machines use lattice booms as the main sequence for lifting extra heavy loads. This lattice type boom is an advantage of the crawler type mobile crane because of its reliable ability to lift loads with a large capacity. Another advantage of this lattice structure is that it can be disassembled.

The advantages of crawler cranes

  • cranes that are capable of both lifting and transporting loads because they do not use outrigger devices
  • Able to lift loads with extra large capacity
  • Can be applied to various heavy needs, such as drag line, clamp shell, pilling, and other heavy tasks.
  • With chain wheels, crawler cranes are reliable for use in heavy and extreme work areas such as rough, hard, and muddy soil structures.
  • The track wheels also allow for the reliable stability of this type of crane, even when applied on a pontoon (barge).
  • Has a boom lattice structure (lattice) with a larger lifting capacity
  • The lattice booms can be disassembled for easy mobilization

This tool has a formidable capability with a very large load capacity and is able to adapt to extreme environmental conditions.

Deficiency

  • Its use often requires a large fee
  • Has a large and heavy body structure
  • The movement is quite slow
  • Disassembling complex lattice booms is often a problem in itself

Below is a daily inspection checklist for crawler cranes which is a mandatory reference for daily inspections that you must carry out on these heavy equipment.
